Island Living

Aloha!  The Balsoms are ‘on island’ and seeing what life has to offer. It is a one-year commitment at this time… or until the money runs out!!

Our daughters Becky and Erin have great husbands and we have 6 wonderful grandchildren.  Our hanai daughter, Kayliene, is living in Wyoming with Erin and Jay.  They are all successful and have their own lives.

In the 2010-2011 school year I had a job that was so stressful, debilitating, devastating, and enervating that I needed some serious down time.  I ate a lot of raw brownies (never put the egg in until you have had your fill and want to cook them.)

So now–Hawaii. What a place!  The weather stays around the 70’s and 80’s all the time….No 108 degree days, no more scraping ice off the window on a chilly morning.  The leaves may not turn colors, but we like green!

We live in a little tiny jewel of a condo less than half the size of our Cali homes.  People have asked, “How are you dealing with that?”

Very well actually.  Less to clean.  Less to keep up.  Less to worry about.

During the time we have been coming to Kauai, about 10 years to visit or check on the condo, we have been attending Calvary Chapel Kauai.  It is a blessing each time we go.  Because we are here on a more permanent basis, we have been able to get involved with the sound ministry, the web site group and the a Christmas project.

Is Island Living perfect?  Nope.  Is it pretty darn great? Yup.
